First Communion

The rain certainly did not dampen the spirits of the boys in 2nd class on Sunday, May 19th, 2014. This was the day of their First Holy Communion in Bóthar na Naomh Church.  The boys looked resplendent in their school uniforms, marked for the special day, with white rosettes.  The preparation and care of Ms. Barbara Ryan and Mr. Foxton was evident in every aspect of the day, as the boys prayed reverently, sang enthusiastically, and participated in so many different ways in the mass, from bringing up gifts, to preparing the altar, and reading from the lectionary.

Adding to the occasion were the school choir and musicians. A huge number of boys attended the mass in this capacity, and greatly added to the day, with their singing and playing. Many thanks to the parents who facilitated this special contribution.

A special word of thanks to our chaplain, Fr. Pat Coffey. This was one very special mass. Everybody, young and old, felt at home and at ease. There was a great sense of spirit in the church, and the attention to detail was second to none. Fr. Pat is a favourite visitor into the classes in school, and it was clear on this special day, why this is. Míle buíochas Fr. Pat.
