The promotion of Irish language and culture is a very important aspect of life in Scoil Ailbhe. As a result, a lot of work goes into the annual Seachtain na Gaeilge. This year, there were new events added to the calendar of events. The week started with a Bricfeasta Mór with the younger boys practising their Gaeilge with the buachaillà ó rang a sé, whilst enjoying a selection of fruits and juices, and the highlight – ispÃnà ó Premier Meats!
Over a number of weeks, the winners of the Caint na Gaeilge competitions in each class took part, along with their classes, in the creation of a fantastic movie, promoting the use of Gaeilge, with the creative direction and technical input of Mr. Donnelly. The boys were very impressed with the end result, which was launched during the week. Mr. Muiris Ó Chléirigh arrived on Friday morning to present the boys with their well-deserved duaiseanna – which were hand-carved by himself. The week ended with a super trad concert in the halla, where the whole school was entertained by Ms. Harrington and her very talented family, Tom and James. Between instrumental music and amhráin Gaelach, which the boys sang along to with gusto, the morning flew………………and all too soon, Seachtain na Gaeilge 2014 had come to an end.
